- Installation problems
- =====================
-
- Disk drives and memory
- ----------------------
- The installation script cuts it very fine on memory when
- installing on a 1 Mb machine, we would therfore suggest
- that you only connect one extra floppy drive to your machine
- while installing the package (each extra floppy drive takes 30k of ram).
- The startup-sequence adds 60 buffers to DF0: in an attempt to speed
- up the extraction to floppy disk i.e. use this drive when uncompressing
- the files.
-
- Other details
- =============
-
- Example readme files
- --------------------
- All the example files have a readme file, we would suggest that
- you read fully these files before attempting to compile the example.
-
-
- Examples
- --------
- As we have added extra examples since the manual was printed, when
- installing to floppy disks, the installation program places the examples
- on both the Includes and Work disks. The locations of the examples
- changes depending upon the version of Workbench you are using.
- If you are using 1.3 the installation program will place the
- 1.3 examples on the includes disk and the other examples on
- the Work disk. If you are using Workbench 3 the installation program
- will place the 2.0/2.1/3.0 files on the Includes disk and the 1.3 files
- on the Work disk.
-
- If you are in novice mode the installation program will only install
- example files that are comptible with your system.
-
- If you are using an earlier version of the operating system you
- may wish to delete the files that are incompatible with your system.
-
- Editor enhancement
- ------------------
- If you tokenise file when a tokens file is already selected, you will be
- asked if you wish to extend the existing tokens file; if you wish to replace
- it just click on No.
-
- Saving the compilation options
- ------------------------------
- Note that the state of the compilation options is not saved in the editor
- Settings file but in its own file that can be saved via the menu that
- appears when you activate one of the compiler option requesters.
-
- First Edition Manual erratum
- ----------------------------
- p203 CALL LOC statement
- The parameters are found on the stack in C order - there is no parameter
- block.
-
- Extend users
- ------------
-
- The Extend library will still work with HiSoft BASIC 2; however if you are
- writing a program to take advantage of the new features of Workbench 2 and
- above it is best to use the new operating system routines directly as shown
- in the examples supplied.
-
- MonAm
- -----
-
- MonAm 3.05 is now Enforcer aware (the MMU based debugging tool); what this
- means is that MonAm now checks strictly for valid memory areas based on the
- OS lists. In particular, location 4 is not a valid memory location (according
- to the OS lists), hence MonAm will not allow it to be read.
